This large tome is made of human tongues sewn together. They are slightly animated, so the book occasionally bends and curls seemingly with a mind of it's own. It contains countless vile recipies and inscriptions aimed at killing living beings and re-animating them as undead minions in the name of the dead king, Goaulkas. If you are in a dangerous situation this book can be used to anoint your attacker with the blessing of the undead prince. Unfortunatly this consumes the book in the process. It also contains numerous pages of information about undead creatures. Some particular paragraphs stand out to you: Many undead can exist for decades or even centuries without interacting with living beings. While the rest seem to require or crave the flesh, energy or life force of the living. Not surprisingly most undead who have no need to eat still have a prefered morsel. Undead can choose to eat if they desire, even if they have no requirment to consume for sustainment. They could even eat the food of the living if they we interested to appear normal or remember their past. Undead with tounges can still taste. Some undead enjoy their ability to feed from the dead. (The author explains to the reader the joys of watching a ghoul locked in the room with a few bound humans.) With all this in mind, undead feeding can be broken into three catagories: not required, inescapable craving and diet dependant. Many of our undead brothers have one at least one thing in common with the living. They posses the means to propagate their own kind. Several varieties of undead can cause their slain victims to rise from the grave, thereby creating new unliving creatures. This is particually usefull if you have any prisoners who are annoying you, for it is much faster than killing and animating them, it saves your spells and it is certainly more entertaining watching a wight tear an elf to shreds. Most undead have the ability to create spawn (either equal to them or weaker but under their control) by simply slaying their victims. I assume that the undead must have stolen some type of life form from the living being for it to raise as a glorious creature of our Lord of Death. A ghoul who pushes a stupid elf paladin into a pit and killing it won't get a new friend for example. There are five methods for undead to create more of their kin. These are: Draining - Typically used by Vampires, Wraiths and Shadows. Killing victim with a special power - An example is a Bodaks death gaze. Disease - A Ghast or Ghoul is a perfect example Magical Creation - Lich, Mummy, Skeleton or Zombie.
