These suits are replicas of the armor worn by the Avatar of Callarduran Smoothand, and thus bear his name. Craftsmen of the svirfneblin, the deep gnomes, created these suits to honor this god of stone. Once donned, the armor gives its owner extraordinary resistance to magic. The gnomes have found this very useful in their ongoing wars with the drow.
