Like many items designed to defeat dragons, these shields can be traced to the year of the Dracorage (1018 DR). They were built with immensely strong materials and techniques, and rumors put a castle engineer in charge of their construction. There may be some truth in this rumor, since the shields resemble reinforced castle gates more than ordinary armor plates.
