An era ago the region was walked by a very dangerous and powerful elven necromancer by the name of Damathe Lorian. Damathe was known and feared by many and rightfully so, as his powers were equaled by few if any. Damathe, who was ever driven to prove himself the best and aquire more and greater power was known to act extremely brashly, often flying into a rage and smiting down with deadly magics anyone who angered him. During one of his many magical experiences in dealing with other planes of existance and the beings therein, it is said that Damathe's short temper and brashness were brought out in an argument with a creature of another plane, one specualted by many to have been a daemon. In his arrogance and temper driven fit Damathe had forgotten his own mortality and all too late realized his mistake as he was snatched through the rift through which the creature had been summoned and carried off screaming by the very one he demanded to serve him. His assistants who saw the whole incident swear to the fact that they saw this very ring or one like it, fall back out of the rift and onto the floor smoldering with flame as his screams died out and the rift closed. Whether this ring was indeed the source of his powers, whether it absorbed some of the many powerful magics he worked, or whether it absorbed part of him, himself, many people ponder over. What is known is that the ring seem to greatly empower anyone wearing it, but at the same time the wearer seemed to become less patient and insightful, not to mention tempermental. Leading one to wonder just what enchantment it is that this ring possesses. Regardless of negative infleunces that it may have, due to its powerful enchantments this ring has become ever sought after by many high level mages giving rise to a great number of duplicates throughout the land.
