The evil cleric Duke Ralbeth of the Sword Coast had for some time desired to increase his landholdings, and began building a small army to torment his neighbors into letting him annex parts of their territory. With the help of several talented wizards and weapon smiths, he crafted these slings to allow his minions to continually pummel his weaker neighbors. Unfortunately he was not as careful with the mercenaries he hired as he was his wizards and many of these slings were sold to the very people he was trying to bully. In the end his neighboring landowners unified their forces and sent an army to crush the duke. His body was found nearly buried in charged sling bullets - of his own design.
